Fed Ex is the Clerk of Courts' new commercial carrier service
Unless otherwise instructed by a filing party, the Clerk of Courts will send initial service by Federal Express commercial carrier service. See Civ. R. 4.1(A)(1)(b).
If initial service is sent by Federal Express, second attempts of service for unclaimed items will be sent by United States Postal Service certified mail. See Civ. R. 4.6(D). Second attempts of service for refused items will be sent by United States Postal Service ordinary mail. See. Civ. R. 4.6(C).
The Clerk will continue to utilize United States Postal Service certified mail for service at a P.O. Box or when service needs to be made upon the United States. See 28 U.S.C. 2410.
