ABOUT THE OFFICE OF THE CLERK

The Clerk of Courts is responsible for the official record keeper for the County Court of Common Pleas and the District Court of Appeals. The Court of Common Pleas hears civil, criminal, and domestic relations cases.

The Clerk of Courts is responsible for recording, maintaining, indexing, and certifying the legal documents filed in the above cases. The Clerk of Courts is also responsible for receiving, accounting, and dispersing fines, fees, and other payments made in those cases.

The Clerk of Courts' other major responsibility is the issuance of Certificates of Title for automobiles, boats, and trailers. Certificates of Title provide the State’s official proof of ownership. In addition to the main office located downtown, the Title Division operates other branch offices to provide greater convenience to the public. Addresses are available within the Auto Title Division of this site.
